Scuba Certification
Most scuba resorts and tour guides will not allow you
to dive without proper scuba certification. The process of gaining certification
is not very difficult, and instructors can be found in most communities.
Many state part and recreation services provide scuba training, as do
many universities.
The vast majority of scuba classes are geared towards earning a PADI
(Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certification. This
organization is the most widely recognized scuba training system in
the world. Because PADI courses are performance based, the length of
training will vary from person to person.
PADI courses require that the student master various techniques before
a scuba certification is awarded. However, this certification does not
mean that you are a master diver. Professional divers undergo years
of training before they can be considered a master.
